Description

The 2023 edition of the AiiA Festival featured a conference programme focused on interrogating the nature, agency, and ethics of artificial intelligence through a multidisciplinary lens. Under the banner of thought-provoking questions “What if AI isn’t human? What if we don’t want AI to dominate?” the festival curated sessions across seven key thematic strands, including:
• The possibility of non-human intelligences not desiring to dominate,
• AI’s relationship to democratic values and the common good,
• Community-led, open-source alternatives to Silicon Valley moral frameworks,
• Multi-species and non-Western models of intelligence and cognition,
• The role of AI entities like Chimère in promoting inclusive, collective authorship .

It positioned Chimère Communities, with Maria Sappho as one of the key human collaborators, as a case study in alternative AI praxis, foregrounding practices of shared agency, decolonial engagement, and transformative feedback loops between non-human and human systems
