Description

It is projected that antipsychotic intramuscular injections of longer duration, potentially up to 6 months, will be offered in future. It is therefore increasingly important to reach the muscle in any injection site to make sure the drug has the optimum chance of working with the least side effects. However, with an increasing numbers of service users in the obese category, the need for choice of needle length is paramount to make sure the drug reaches the muscle rather than subcutaneous fat.
