Opening Keynote: At the Coal Face: Youth and the Ghostly Matters of Barnsley Kat Simpson is a working-class academic and Senior Lecturer in Education at the University of Huddersfield. Her research explores how industrial legacies continue to shape the lives of young people in former coalfield communities, examining how the industrial past and the deindustrialised present intertwine to shape the lived experiences of the present-future.
