Description
A practice-based textile workshop delivered as part of Bloomsbury Festival 2026 at the Library of the Society of Friends, London. Drawing on the Threads in Common research project, the workshop explores the First World War ‘Coloured Embroidery Scheme’, in which Bloomsbury’s Omega Workshops and British Quakers supported refugee women in France through textile production. Participants will create a small piece of embroidery inspired by surviving designs while listening to a specially developed sound work by composer Monty Adkins, evoking the wartime soundscape in which the original textiles were made. The workshop is accompanied by a small exhibition of archival material and textile objects, bringing together creative practice, sound, material history and research into humanitarian handicraft.| Period | 9 Oct 2026 |
