Description
As first-hand witnesses of the Holocaust diminish and denial increases, the need for robust, evidence-based approaches to Holocaust education becomes ever more critical. This workshop session outlined an innovative collaboration between Holocaust Centre North and the Centre of Archaeology at the University of Huddersfield, which has developed a research-informed educational session for Key Stages 3 and 4. The session integrated archaeological methods and findings into the teaching of the Holocaust, demonstrating how material evidence can corroborate primary sources and provide compelling proof of both individual experiences and broader historical events. By combining archaeology, humanities, and Holocaust studies, the programme encourages students to engage actively with a sensitive subject through practical and interdisciplinary learning.
