Description

As refugee rights and protection have been increasingly undermined,
longstanding representations of refugees as passive dependents of
humanitarian and welfare state aid have been increasingly questioned by
neoliberal discourses stressing “entrepreneurship” as a driver of
innovation and resilience. This paper explores these developments as the play out on the ground using data from a BA/Leverhulme funded study of Syrian refugees in West Yorkshire in the North of England.
