A personal response to the role practice might play in performance magic research. It will speak to the uneasiness of free practice, the necessity of keeping things hidden, the difficulty of honesty and the challenges of vulnerability. How might performance magic be explored in a way that is not simply practising tricks, and what is the role of autobiography in a practice characterised by dishonesty.
