Musical practice is a form of knowledge that, as ecological anthropologist Tim Ingold says, ‘comes from thinking with, from and through beings and things, not just about them.’ What might the practice of composition, underpinned by this focus on knowing through doing, offer to our understanding of research as a mode of enquiry.
