At the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, Maria Sappho is a research supervisor for postgraduate students on the MA Creative Music Production course. She supports students in shaping and delivering research that bridges creative practice and critical reflection, guiding them through project design, methodology, and presentation. Maria’s expertise spans free improvisation, creative production, sound design, music and technology, interdisciplinary composition, and socially engaged arts practice. She draws on feminist and posthumanist perspectives, as well as her own professional experience as a performer, composer, and researcher, to help students situate their work within broader artistic, cultural, and theoretical contexts. Her supervision fosters curiosity, originality, and a clear artistic voice, enabling students to connect their creative ambitions with meaningful, research‑driven outcomes.
