Description
This one hour webinar was provided as part of a Local Authority safeguarding week to disseminate initial findings from my PhD research. It included an explanation of what technology-assisted child sexual abuse is, the scale, and the duty on children's social care to respond. It provided extracts from my research to evidence the emerging themes relevant to professional practice, including: unfulfilled expectations of children's social care, the burden of responsibility on mothers, mixed professional messaging, the detrimental impact of family functioning and trauma. Professionals were provided with emerging recommendations to support their practice, including to provide a trauma informed response, multi-agency working, dynamic plans and clear communication. The webinar, whilst aimed at local practitioners, was attended by delegates from across the UK, including statutory and non-statutory social workers, family support workers and post-graduate researchers.| Period | 25 Jun 2026 |
