Description
Views on the integration of migrants and policy towards migration groups appears to remain difficult to influence, at least in a positive direction. This is despite the production of research, analysis and evaluations which illustrate the important role integration plays in growing the economy, addressing social welfare and creating a more equal society. To a certain extent this may be the result of a deficiency in how we communicate the benefits of integration and the role integration plays in society. This workshop aims to create space for a discussion on how we might change the migrants about integration. What messages work best for which audiences? How might we deliver those messages in different ways? The workshop draws on previous and ongoing work from the University of Huddersfield, which is looking at how migrants, particularly refugees, integrate. The workshops aims to provide space for all attendees to think about how we can communicate differently and directly contribute to shaping the content and presentation of an ongoing real-world research project.
Workshop facilitators: Prof Phil Brown, Dr Santokh Gill and Dr Jamie Halsall.
