    Higher education has become a global phenomenon. For many years, governments have perceived higher education as key to students’ economic success. The theory of globalization has opened up the university sector, giving students access to information at the click of a button. Moreover, academic teaching staff have access to different technological devices, which have a profound effect on teaching and learning methods. These developments have enriched and diversified pedagogical practices.

    The relationship between teaching and learning and research is crucial. Universities’ primary purposes are to produce research and educate students. The way the relationship between research and teaching works is an important topic for debate; the aim of this presentation is to explore this relationship. The author will present a number of best practice models that connect research and teaching.
