Description
Maria Sappho is a Visiting Lecturer at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she leads the Free Improvisation IXP module and delivers lectures in Music Psychology. In the improvisation module, she guides students through collaborative and cross‑disciplinary approaches to performance, fostering creativity, deep listening, and ensemble interaction. Her music psychology teaching focuses on the relationship between music and identity, exploring how musical engagement shapes self‑expression, community, and cultural belonging. Through both strands of teaching, Maria encourages students to critically and creatively reflect on their own artistic practice and its place within wider social, cultural, and psychological contexts.
