Description

Some women can experience a sense of shame about breastfeeding difficulties, as they feel they do not measure up to idealised representation of both breastfeeding and motherhood. Antenatal preparation, which anticipates and normalises problems in the early weeks, and provides opportunities to discuss difficulties and associated feelings, may help to dispel shame and mitigate against negative self-evaluation.
