Description

Setting the scene for a national, multi-stakeholder discussion series on the future supply of trustworthy, public-interest news in the UK

Subject

For me, public-interest journalism informs people about things that impact our lives – so that we may take action – and this is very often about holding power to account. I understand this definition might stray into “campaigning journalism” and this is tricky from an “objectivity” perspective. But we know that no journalist can be truly objective, they all have their own life experiences that influence the choices they make. In a world of things competing for our attention, we are saying “this matters”. Why? What do we need to do?
