Press/Media: Other

Description

As a critique of the theory according to which peoples’ right to self-determination and vaguely defined indigenous peoples’ right to land would justify the military occupation of the territory of one state by another, this post underlines the precedence of the principle of territorial integrity by citing UN Security Council resolutions and the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights with regard to Turkey’s military intervention in Cyprus as it asserts the importance of the recent Karabakh Armistice in taking a step further in terms of achieving a more lasting peace.
