Description

Bankstown, a suburb of south-western Sydney, is one of the most ethnically diverse suburbs of Australia. Most of the local residents are first generation immigrants who have brought with them musical influences from their homelands.  

Toby Martin, singer/songwriter and frontman of indie band Youth Group, spent two years immersed in the community as a part of an Urban Theatre Projects artist residency, collaborating with local musicians to write Songs From Northam Avenue, an album inspired by the people, sounds and music he encountered.
