Biorefinery Engineering and Bioprocessing Research Centre

Organisation profile

The Biorefinery Engineering and Bioprocessing Research Centre has two main themes: bioprocess technologies (e.g. fermentation, extraction), and biorefinery integration.

We strongly believe that biorefineries must adopt and adapt formal process integration approaches in order to deliver their benefits – their commercial benefits in competing viably with petroleum refineries, their environmental benefits in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and alleviating climate change and oil depletion, and their social benefits in supplying the food needs of society along with material and energy needs.
