Biography

I joined the University of Huddersfield in December 2019 as a Research Fellow in Flow Diagnostics where I am involved in experimental and numerical (CFD) aspects of single-phase and multiphase flows in pipes, across valve fittings, open channels, and other complex geometry with wide applications in the chemical, process, renewable energy and aero industries. I was previously a Research Fellow (Apr 2018 - Nov 2019) at the University of Nottingham where I worked on Rolls-Royce experimental projects involving gas-oil flows in aero-engine bearing chambers. Prior to that (Mar 2016 - Feb 2018), I was a Postdoctoral Researcher in fluid mechanics at Pusan National University in South Korea where I worked on projects and with students on a wide range of experimental and numerical two-phase flows. I have also worked as an assistant lecturer in chemical engineering at the Federal University of Technology Minna, Nigeria where I taught thermodynamics, numerical methods, and engineering mathematics.

I obtained my PhD from Cranfield Unversity in the area of two-phase annular flow in large pipes on scholarship from Petroleum Technology Development Fund, Nigeria. During my PhD studies, a paper I presented at the Asia Pacific Conference in Chemical Engineering in Melbourne won the IChemE/Engineers Australia best student paper of 2015. I previously attended the University of Manchester graduating in 2009 with an MSc in Refinery Design and Operations at the School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science.

I have published many research articles in leading international journals involving fluid flow, heat and mass transfer. I am also a reviewer for journals such as Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, Energy, and Applied Thermal Engineering. Research Expertise and Interests

  • Flow diagnostics for single-phase e.g. in aerodynamics, mixers and multiphase such as in heat exchangers, industrial mixers, turbomachinery, oil & gas and process pipelines.
  • Instrumentation: conductance, capacitance, optical fibre sensors; imaging with high-speed cameras, laser diagnostics (especially particle image velocimetry PIV) and image processing with phase separation. 
  • CFD flow modelling
