Angelica is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Huddersfield. She holds a PhD in International Economic Law (trade & energy) from the University of Liverpool (funded by the ESRC studentship), an LLM in International Business Law from the University of Liverpool, a Postgraduate Diploma in Law (common law) from the BPP Law School, Manchester and a Bachelor of Laws (civil law) from one of the leading law schools in Brazil, Recife Law School at the Federal University of Pernambuco.

Her expertise combines academic knowledge with practical application. In the UK, she previously worked for the University of Liverpool (2018-2019), the Legal Aid Agency – Ministry of Justice UK (2013-2015), Barclays (2012), Bosch (2011-2013), Citizens Advice Bureau (2009-2011) and Personal Support Unit – Manchester Civil Justice Centre (2009-2011). In Brazil, Angelica gained legal training at the State Attorney General’s Office, the Youth Court Public Defender’s Office, the Brazilian Bank Caixa Economica Federal and the Federal Police before being called to the Brazilian Bar Association and working as a lawyer for Santa Genoveva Hospital. 

Angelica is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and delivers teaching in both graduate and postgraduate programmes.

Research Expertise and Interests

Angelica’s research interests lie at the intersection of commercial law broadly conceived and environmental law. Her expertise focuses on the legal challenges with the commercialisation of emerging clean energy technologies, particularly energy storage, smart grid, renewable energy and nuclear fusion. Her research aims at contributing to the creation/improvement of law and policy from both a national and an international perspective.
