I am a full time Lecturer on the Interior Design BA(Hons) course where I lead first year and also teach second year students. I joined the university in 2019 after completing a PGCE at York College. I gained a Master's in Interior Design in 2015 and a BA(Hons) in Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design in 2013. My previous teaching background is in FE, I use this experience to guide and assist new students with their transition to HE. My industry experience also helps to inform and prepare students for employment as well as further study. I embed the knoweldge gained through my varied educational background to help the students explore multidisiplinary in their work. In 2020 I secured my FHEA.
The research conducted during my master's was focussed around social housing, with particular focus around 1950'5/60's urban utopias. I explored the ongoing housing crisis and looked to european examples of new house building. This is a topic I continue to explore and would be happy to assist master's students with a similar area of interest.
More recent research focuses on our digital perception of spaces. The social media culture and effect this has on the way we design architecture and interiors.
