Dr Attya received his BSc, and MSc degrees from Ain Shams University, Egypt in 2005 and 2008 respectively. After his graduation he worked as a teaching and lecturer assistant at the faculty of Information and Engineering Technology, German University in Cairo in 2006-2010. He was awarded the DAAD full PhD scholarship in 2010, and the title of Dr.-Ing. from the faculty of Electronic and Electric Engineering, TU Darmstadt, Germany in 2014. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the Wind Energy and Control Centre, University of Strathclyde, UK in 2015-2017. During his stay at Strathclyde he received the Post Graduated Certificate of Teaching in Higher Education in 2017. He is an investigator of several European and National research projects and proposals, which focus on the realization of deep penetration levels of non-conventional energy systems to current and future power and energy systems. He provided consultancy services for the European Network of Transmission System Operators (ENTSO-e). He was a Visiting Researcher for Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC), Spain, and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE-C), UK in 2016 and 2017 respectively. He holds the Chartered Engineer status by the British Engineering Council. He joined the University of Huddersfield in 2017 as Senior Lecturer of Electrical Power Engineering in the Department of Engineering and Technology.

Research Expertise and Interests

Dr Attya works on a wide research scope that is focused on power systems modelling and stability, controls of energy systems, integration of renewables and energy storage systems into power grids and energy markets.
