Biography
Gabriel Sadi, Ph.D., began his academic work at the University of Huddersfield in January 2020 as a lecturer in the Department of Management, Huddersfield Business School, focused on strategic communication/public relations. From October 2021, he is the Course Leader of the MSc in Strategic Communication Leadership, a closed postgraduate programme undertaken in agreement with the UK Cabinet Office for senior practitioners within the Government Communication Service. Gabriel has also co-led Corporate Governance & Responsibility, a core research cluster at SURGE Research Centre.
Before his arrival, he worked for fifteen years in the Argentinian higher education system, where he was director of undergraduate courses in public relations at two universities (Universidad Abierta Interamericana - 2010/2019 - and Universidad del Salvador - 2005/2010) and module leader in undergraduate and postgraduate courses at four other universities (UB, UAustral, UCA and UNLaM). Simultaneously, he was an Executive Board member of the Consejo Profesional de Relaciones Públicas de la República Argentina (CPRPRA) during 12 years, one of the leading professional bodies all over Latin America.
He was also the National Representative for Argentina and Uruguay in the Latin American Communication Monitor (2018-2019), and is at present a member of its Advisory Board. He was elected as PR Division's International Liaison Representative of the International Communication Association (ICA), with a two-years-mandate between 2020 and 2022. Gabriel was also a member during 2022 and 2023 of the prestigious Commission on Public Relations Education representing the ICA´s PR Division. Gabriel has received the 2023 AEJMC-Knudson Latin American Prize for co-editing a special issue focused on Latin America of the Public Relations Inquiry journal
He has been awarded a PhD in Communication (Universidad Austral), a Master’s degree in Communication and Corporate Image (Universidad CAECE) and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism (Universidad del Salvador). He has also achieved the status of Fellow (FHEA) in recognition of attainment against the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and learning support in higher education.
His research interests are related to the the global intellectual domain of public relations/strategic communication, particularly in and from Latin America and the Global South; the use of specific theories in the academic environment and the professional practice; and the professional capabilities at national, regional and international levels.
Gabriel has over 10 years experience in PR consultancy, mainly to NGOs and governmental institutions. Currently, he is a member of professional or academic bodies such as CIPR, CPRPRA, EUPRERA, ICA, and CMI.
