Emma Stripe

I have been a Learning Disability Nurse for over 25 years, I am passionate about this field of nursing and working with individuals with learning disabilities. I still work in practice as a learning disability nurse, this enable me to do something I love, keeps me up to date with developments in nursing and maintains my clinical skills.

I am values driven and have a strong sense of social justice, challenging inequality, and discrimination for individuals with learning disabilities. I have a special interest in sexual health and the experiences of individuals with learning disability and the staff who support them. 

I believe in involvement and inclusion. As an academic I involve and collaborate with individuals with lived experience of learning disability in both the development of teaching and learning materials and by co teaching in the classroom. I believe that this demonstrates that we value every individuals expertise and experience and this strengthens the students learning experience.
