Biography

Olaide Felix Olabode is a Senior Research Fellow at the Engineering Control and Machine Performance Group (ECMPG) of the University’s Centre for Precision Technologies. Felix’s research and teaching focus on ultrasonic measurement systems, machine tool metrology and manufacturing systems automation.
Felix holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, a Master of Science in Engineering degree in Mechatronics from Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia. He worked in the automation and oil and gas industries before joining the ECMPG for his PhD under the supervision of Dr Simon Fletcher and Prof Andrew Longstaff. His research focused on precision core temperature measurement using ultrasound for various manufacturing processes.
He is now continuing his work on machine tool accuracy improvement. Working with members of the ECMPG research team and other industrial and academic partners, Felix leads a work package in the Advanced Machinery and Productivity Institute (AMPI) project. The work package aims to create the framework for cyber-physical interoperability of machines and subsystems needed to manufacture tomorrow’s products. He also leads other AMPI innovation and ATI projects. He is a Researcher-in-Residence at the Manufacturing Technology Centre, Ansty where he is developing a residual stress measurement system using laser ultrasound.

Felix teaches on the Manufacturing Systems Automation module and is actively involved in the wider academic community as a member of the UKRI Talent Peer Review College, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and a member of the IET.
