Biography
Fiona joined the University as a Lecturer in Hospitality in 2005 after a successful career in hospitality management, and has continued to integrate her knowledge and experience into her teaching.
Previous experience includes management within both the hotel and restaurant industries working for Hilton,Thistle and Holiday Inn as well as the slightly more unusual role as one of the first female Camp Bosses for Sodexo, Universal Ogden and Kelvin International Services in the offshore industry.
Challenges included managing an international workforce, achieving high quality of service for clients whilst maintaining high profit margins for employer. Staff welfare and training were also of significant importance together with planning and organising at both operational as well as strategic level. Zero tolerance for error imposed by clients made these particularly challenging roles and have led to Fionas continued interest in operational analysis and planning of service operations which forms a firm basis of much of her subject expertise
