Biography
Dr Ged Ryan is a senior academic and a uniquely experienced business specialist with substantial understanding and knowledge in the field of international events management. Ged has published books, chapters and journal articles and maintains a highly respectable contribution to international business, music, and the events industry. He continues to develop his industry knowledge in the international events and cultural tourism sectors and is currently responsible for the development, design, delivery and leadership of international business courses of study.
Before becoming an academic, Ged was the event manager at The Cavern Club in Liverpool from 2005 to 2008 with numerous notable successes. He remains a respected musician who has recorded and performed worldwide with major artists since the early 80's. From 2001 to 2006 Ged was the Development Manager for the MMDA (Merseyside Music Development Agency) and amongst the many achievements in supporting the local music industry, contributed as a consultant in this role to Liverpool’s successful 2008 Capital of Culture bid. Due to the many achievements of this support agency, the MMDA's remit was expanded into Creativebias, a supporting agency for all the creative industries.
Ged still works freelance as a musician and as an event consultant. With a doctorate in education, his research activities continue to inform teaching and provide an exceptional learning experience for students who seek to follow a similar journey into the world of international business management.
Research interests include international events, culture, education, wellbeing, and digital technology.
