Glynis joined the Business School in 1994 having previously worked in international business and marketing within the engineering and textile sectors for both large organisations and SMEs including the Coats Viyella Group.
With a background in languages, having studied French, German and Spanish, Glynis moved into export and import management gaining graduate membership of the Institute of Export and developed an interest in the training of exporters. This prompted a move into education delivering IoE professional qualification courses. An MA in International Business led to a move to The University of Huddersfield to teach a range of marketing and international marketing subjects.
As a result of her background in industry, Glynis is keen to ensure that work experience and a strong business focus is integral to the undergraduate marketing programmes for which she is Course Leader. A key element of this is the Partners in Marketing group which she established to ensure that Huddersfield marketing courses meet the needs of business and to ensure that the University and its students can benefit from close links within the industry.
Glynis has also worked closely with professional bodies, in particular the CIM in the co-ordination of a multi-pathway scheme whereby students have the opportunity to obtain professional qualifications alongside their studies.
