Biography

Dr Glynn Jones is a Subject Leader for Postgraduate Taught Courses in the Department of Education and Community Studies. He started work with the University of Huddersfield in 2009. With a background in secondary education, further education and TEFL in the UK and beyond, he is now Curriculum Lead for the taught postgraduate courses in the department and teaches modules in Education and Society, Comparison of Curriculum, Vocational Education and Second Language Learning.  

Glynn’s career began as a high school teacher in Staffordshire, before specialising in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Over 7 years he developed extensive experience of TEFL in Indonesia and Japan, working for the British Council with students across a full age range. He also taught English to employees at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries as part of their employee training programme. On returning to the UK he taught higher education courses in Computing and Business at a Further Education College, which led to his PhD examining young adults’ decisions to study HE qualifications at FE colleges.

He focuses on internationalisation of education in his research at the University of Huddersfield, alongside his teaching responsibilities
