Biography

I joined the University of Huddersfield as Divisional Head of Psychology and Counselling in 2005, having previously been Head of the School of Psychology at the University of the West of England, and senior lecturer in psychology at the University of Teesside. An environment in which research and research-led teaching has always been of paramount importance to me, and I moved from a line management position into a more research focused role when the University’s priorities moved to research in the last few years. Between 2014-2017 I was Director of Graduate Education for the School of Human and Health Sciences, with responsibility for the management of all processes concerning the wellbeing and educational experience of postgraduate researchers in a wide range of disciplines. Since 2018, I have been Subject Lead in Psychology with responsibility for postgraduate developments, as well as management and leadership in the department of psychology.

Outside of academia, I have experience of working in the secure communications field, actively involved in the integrity of information in networks. In addition, I have worked on projects examining practice in police and government services.
