Biography

I am Holly Bennion, a Lecturer in Education at Huddersfield University. I completed my PhD at Durham University in Education (2019-2024), exploring children’s views and experiences of belonging, identity, and school inclusion in intercultural contexts.

I studied for my MPhil in Primary Education at the University of Cambridge.

Prior to coming to Huddersfield, I taught at Durham University in the School of Education, and I have worked as a primary school teacher and early years practitioner for several years.

My teaching and research interests include:

  • Inclusive education
  • Immigration, diversity, multiculturalism, political and social integration
  • Identity, gender, race, ethnicity, language, religion
  • English as an additional language in school
  • Belonging, well-being and mental health in young people
  • SEND and education
  • Teaching and learning in primary education
  • Childhood and youth studies, including voice and agency
  • Participatory, creative and performance-based methods
