Idika is a Lecturer in Management (Strategy and International Business) at the University of Huddersfield Business School, UK. He joined the business school in March 2021 having previously served in a combination of full-time and part-time roles at the University of Essex Business School, London School of Economics and Political Science, and University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
Idika received his PhD in International Business from Birkbeck College, University of London, UK. His thesis addressed the fundamental question of the ownership advantages that support the growth, expansion, and internationalization of African multinational enterprises.
Idika’s research outputs have been presented in internationally recognised conferences such as British Academy of Management (BAM) and Academy of International Business (AIB) annual conferences. Also, he has produced high quality publications which have appeared in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals such as International Marketing Review (IMR) (ABS 3*) and Cogent Business and Management, (ABS 1*) and Asia Pacific Journal of Management and Innovation.
He previously led some undergraduate modules, including Marketing Communication, Communications and Intercultural Skills, and International Business Environment. Also, he has supported some postgraduate modules, including Research Methods, Strategic Management, and Leadership and Organisation in a Globalized World. Idika’s teaching has been well-received by his students. He previously received an average score of 4.8 out of 5.0 points from his undergraduate students at the Essex Business School in the Marketing Communication module. Aside from his teaching roles, he has also functioned as personal tutor to first year students at the Essex Business School.

Research Expertise and Interests

Idika’s research interests are principally in the following areas:
a) Firms’ capabilities development
b) Internal and external knowledge integration
c) SME and MNEs’ internationalization,
d) International business management and strategy, and
e) innovation creation, among others.
He is currently working on some interesting and topical issues, including exploration of the fundamental ownership advantage that African multinational firms build, a process theory of MNEs’ capabilities development, and investigation of how emerging markets MNEs combine internal and external assets. Idika’s contributions to knowledge have been recently acknowledged by the British Academy with an endorsement as a global talent, under the exceptional promise category. He is a member of both the Academy of International Business and British Academy of Management.
