Biography
Dr Jason (Xiaowei) Wang holds Bachelor of Science (Economics and Business Economics), Master of Science (Operations and Supply Chain Management) from the University of Groningen, and Ph.D. (Operations and Supply Chain Management) from the University of Otago. Specializing in supply chain sustainability management and event study methodology, Jason’s work has been published in various renowned journals, including International Journal of Production Economics, Production Planning and Control, Journal of Macromarketing, International Journal of Applied Logistics, International Journal of Operational Research. Additionally, Jason has published three book chapters and eight conference papers.
His work also attracts the attention from the industrial community. He provided consulting services for industrial partners, including developing an applied research solution for a leading New Zealand vehicle recovery service provider. He was invited to publish his research in a leading professionally-focused Japanese logistics magazine - LOGI-BIZ.
Research Interest
Jason’s core research focuses on two broad themes:

Supply chain sustainability management and circular economy, with a particular focus on customer firms driven supply chain sustainability practices and their impacts on supplying firms. This includes the explorations of the financial consequences of buyers/customer firms and their suppliers, and operational strategies for dealing with potential business risks relating to the adoption of supply chain sustainability practices.

Buyer-supplier relationships, especially investigating operational factors (e.g., supply chain power and operational resources) in the context of group purchasing and industry networks.
