Personal profile

I am Senior Lecturer in Primary Education. My responsibilities include primary science, teaching and learning of core and foundation subjects, and behaviour management. My research interests include the psychology of child and teacher motivation, models of outstanding curricula and gender considerations in learning and education.

I completed my MA in Education Studies and my PGCE in Early Years at the University of Cambridge. During my time there, my areas of interest included the Arts in education, children’s attitudes to science and scientists, and the psychology of education. I received the Joyce Ridley Memorial Prize for Arts and Education. After graduating, I worked in an outstanding school in York, across the whole primary age range, with most extensive experience in lower key stage 2.

As a teacher, I led the literacy project ‘Growing Level 5 Writers’ in my school. I mentored teaching students for over five years. I gave annual lectures at York St John University on the Creative Curriculum.  As humanities coordinator and creative curriculum lead, I worked closely with colleagues to introduce and roll out the 2014 curriculum in my school.

In 2015, I took up the post as Assistant Primary Principal at Bromsgrove International School, Thailand. Here, I designed a bespoke curriculum for the school, implemented a new assessment system and established an innovative tracking system for vulnerable children.  I led workshops at the annual FOBISIA Data Conference for teachers from 30 schools in South-East Asia.
