Jenny joined the journalism and media teaching staff in 2016 as a Senior University Practitioner (Public Relations and Magazine Journalism).
She teaches on undergraduate modules in promotional culture and PR, magazine design and production and longer-form media writing. Jenny is also a work experience and industry liaison lead.
Until 23/24, on becoming full time Subject Area Leader, Jenny combined her university work with a part-time role as editorial excellence manager at Scriba PR, an award-winning technical specialist PR agency in Huddersfield.
She is a former press officer for National Day Nurseries Association, a campaigning charity that supports childcare providers, and communications manager for Great Places Housing Group, a large, sector-leading housing association in Manchester.
Jenny started her career as a news reporter for the Huddersfield Daily Examiner aged 19 and has also worked as a feature writer and production journalist. She became head of content at the Examiner before moving into PR.
She has a first class BA Hons degree in fine art from Leeds Arts University (2012) which she studied for part-time. Jenny also has a Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) postgraduate diploma (2009), National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) qualification, and an MA by Research in Communication, Cultural and Media Studies (2022).
