Jenny joined the journalism and media staff in January 2016 as a part-time University Practitioner (Public Relations and Magazine Journalism), working mainly on Tuesdays, but available by email at other times.
She teaches primarily undergraduate PR modules from the perspective of a current industry practitioner.
Jenny combines her university work with the role of PR and Policy Officer for National Day Nurseries Association, based in Huddersfield. NDNA is a charity and membership body for nurseries all over the UK and overseas, lobbying for change to help children to get the best possible start in life.
Jenny works to secure national newspaper and broadcast coverage for NDNA, coordinates campaigning activity and edits its members’ magazine, Nursery News.
Previously, Jenny was Communications Manager for Great Places Housing Group, a large, sector-leading and multi-award winning housing association in Manchester, where she worked for eight years, first as PR and Communications Officer and then as Senior Communications Officer.
Jenny started her career as a News Reporter for the Huddersfield Daily Examiner at the age of 19 after completing a National Council for the Training of Journalists pre-entry course in Sheffield. She became a Feature Writer and was Head of Content at the Examiner before her career in PR.
She has a BA Hons degree in Fine Art from Leeds College of Art (2012) which she studied for part-time. She also has a Chartered Institute of Public Relations postgraduate diploma (2009).
