Biography

Joanne is currently MA Programme Leader for the Department of Fashion and Textiles and Course Leader for MA Fashion Textile Practices.

Joanne’s research reflects and represents her professional creative industry experiences. Her career began in theatre set and costume design and evolved into textiles and surface design working in UK and international design studios before joining the University of Huddersfield as a lecturer in printed textiles in 1999. Joanne completed her MA at Manchester Metropolitan University in Textiles in 2005 and was then appointed as a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader of the BA (Hons) Surface Design for Fashion and Interiors course and has been actively embedding creative enterprise into the course for nine years. Joanne’s passionate vision for engaging industry partnerships and creating and transforming “real” opportunities within the creative industries of Surface and Textiles for Undergraduate and Postgraduate students is at the heart of her Doctoral research.
