I am currently the practice placement co-ordinator, and senior lecturer in occupational therapy. I joined the University in 2004 to develop and lead the then new subject area of occupational therapy. I was previously a lecturer/practitioner as part of the Learning Disability Research Unit here at the University of Huddersfield and Head Occupational Therapist in Learning Disabilities. I graduated from the College of Ripon and York St.John as an occupational therapist many years ago! After working in a range of both physical and mental health settings I specialised in working with people with learning disabilities in secure environments and have a track record of developing and managing new occupational therapy services in challenging environments.
I have extensive experience of working in a variety of settings both at home and overseas. I enjoyed a wonderful sun filled time in Bermuda developing services for people with a learning disability as well as learning how to scuba dive! I have also worked as a Director of Rehabilitation in Newfoundland Canada, developing a newly established service of new graduates into a professionally competent highly respected team.
