Currently employed by The University of Huddersfield as ‘Pianist-in-Residence’, The Royal Northern College of Music as Staff Pianist, and I also work freelance as a pianist and coach.
I am a graduate of The University of Huddersfield and The Royal Northern College of Music. I have worked for numerous musical organisations including the Halle, Leeds Lieder, and Opera North, and I have performed in venues throughout the UK.
Jonathan Fisher was born in Manchester and is a graduate of The University of Huddersfield and The Royal Northern College of music. He enjoys the thrill of making music with other people, and has a strong passion for the art song repertoire. Notable recent engagements include recitals at Leeds Lieder Festival, Oxford Lieder Festival, Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall, Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall, Chester Festival, The Royal Northern College of Music, La Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista in Venice, several recitals in London for the Richard Strauss Society, and numerous music society recitals throughout the United Kindom. Jonathan has featured as accompanist in several category finals of BBC Young Musician of the Year Award.
Jonathan has worked in recital with many distinguished singers and musicians, including Anna Stephany, Lynne Dawson, Philip Smith, Louise Winter, Paul Nilon, Kathryn Rudge, and Benjamin Appl. As a keen advocate of new music, Jonathan has recorded chamber music for ASC Records, the Prima Facie label, and Metier Records.
Jonathan is committed to working with the next generation of musicians, this is reflected in the positions he holds at The University of Huddersfield as Pianist-In-Residence and The Royal Northern College of Music as Staff Pianist. Jonathan is Artistic Director of The Royal Northern College of Music’s annual Day of Song.
