Biography

Kirsty joined the University of Huddersfield in 2021 and is currently a Senior Lecturer on the BSc (Hons) Sport and Physical Education course. She began her career in secondary education, teaching Physical Education for nine years before progressing into higher education.

Prior to her current role, Kirsty was a Senior Lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University for five years, where she contributed across a range of programmes including Sport and Exercise Science, Sport Development with Coaching, and Physical Education and School Sport.

Kirsty has a strong academic and professional interest in Sport Psychology, completing an MSc in the field alongside her teaching career. She is currently undertaking a PhD exploring perceptions of secondary school Physical Education and its impact on students’ health and well-being.

During a recent sabbatical, Kirsty worked as an Educational Consultant with PE Scholar, contributing to a government-funded national project with Oak National Academy. As a member of the Physical Education subject expert group, she played a key role in shaping high-quality PE curriculum content, providing expert evaluation, and advising on the development of inclusive resources designed to meet the diverse needs of learners across the education sector.
