Biography

Dr Marc Turu Porcel is the Subject Leader for Initial Teacher Education at the University of Huddersfield's School of Education and Professional Development. Originally trained as a teacher and educational psychologist in Catalonia, he has taught across both primary and secondary education sectors. Prior to his current role, Marc served as a lecturer and course leader at Leeds Beckett University.

In addition to his leadership in initial teacher education, Marc contributes extensively to teaching across a range of programmes, including teacher training courses, the MA in Education, and the Doctor of Education (EdD) programme. He also supervises doctoral students working in areas aligned with his research expertise.

His research interests centre on school staff wellbeing, professional development, and the organisational culture of schools. He has contributed to a variety of academic publications, including chapters in Becoming a Teacher-Researcher: A Guide to Your Research Journey (2024), and articles in journals such as Learning and Teaching and The Early Career Framework: Origins, Outcomes and Opportunities.

Marc actively engages with the wider academic and educational community. He serves as an advisory board member of the Academy of Education and Social Sciences Review and is a committed school governor.
