Biography

Mohamed is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting at the University of Huddersfield. Mohamed joined the University of Huddersfield in September 2017. Prior to joining the University of Huddersfield, he was a Lecturer in Accounting at the University of East London. While doing his PhD at the University of Huddersfield, Mohamed worked as a tutor in Accounting and also as a co-investigator in two projects funded by the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education. Prior joining Huddersfield, Mohamed held full lectureship post in accounting at Al Asmarya University for Islamic Sciences, Libya.

Mohamed has a PhD (University of Huddersfield), an MSc with Merit (University of Huddersfield), and a BSc with First Class (University of Almergheb) degrees in accounting, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Mohamed has continuing research interests in accounting and governance (corporate governance, taxation and financial reporting) and accountability and ethics (social and environmental accounting – corporate social responsibility), Mohamed has articles published in different international journals, such as European Management Review, Corporate Governance: The International Journal of Business in Society, and International Journal of Accounting and Information Management. He has presented his research at a number of national and international academic conferences, as well as won external research grant award from funding bodies, such as the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education. He is also an ad-hoc reviewer for a number of academic journals, such as International Journal of Finance & Economics, Journal of Accounting in Emerging Economies, Cogent Business & Management Journal, African Review of Economics and Finance and Journal of Financial Reporting and Accounting.

Mohamed's teaching interests cut across Accounting and Governance, having taught modules, such as Taxation, Corporate Governance, Financial Accounting, and Research Methods to undergraduate, postgraduate and professional accounting students. Currently at the University of Huddersfield, Mohamed is the module leader for Accounting for Managers (Hons) module. Mohamed is also involved in teaching other undergraduate and postgraduate modules, including Finance Theories, Research Design and Analysis, and Tax Framework.
