Biography

Natalie joined the University of Huddersfield as a Lecturer in the Law School in 2014, teaching on the professional practice courses and undergraduate academic courses.  Natalie became a Senior Lecturer in 2016 and is the Module Leader for family law on both the LLB and MLP as well as Administration of Justice & Human Rights and Professional Conduct & Regulation. 

Natalie has been Course Leader for LLB (Hons) Law with Crminology since 2017.

Natalie studied at the University of Huddersfield to attain her LLB, LPC and LLM and qualified as a Solicitor in 2007, specialising in family and child care law.  Natalie has worked for local legal firms including Chadwick Lawrence LLP, Makin Dixon and Holroyd & Co Solicitors.

Natalie is the Honorary Secretary to the Huddersfield and Dewsbury Incorporated Law Society 

Research Expertise and Interests

Natalie's research interests are in all aspects of family law, with a particular focus on domestic violence and abuse.  Natalie is interested in how family law interacts with criminal law and, in particular, female perpetrated cases of intimate partner homicide in alleged cases of domestic violenc and abuse.  Natalie is currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Huddersfield on this subject under the supervision of Dr Bernard Gallagher and Dr Grainen McMahon.

Natalie completed an LLM in Legal Practice in 2015 entitled 'Should the Government Introduce Legislation to Provide a Financial Remedy to Cohabiting Couples on Relationship Breakdown?
