Dr. Neelu Seetaram is an applied economist and Subject Group Leader for Economics at the Huddersfield Business School. Neelu has worked at universities in the UK and abroad including Monash University, Australia from where she obtained her PhD in Economics. Her doctoral research was funded by the prestigious Sustainable Tourism Cooperative Research Centre – QANTAS scholarship. With publications in top ranked journals Neelu is a well-known researcher in in the field of tourism economics. She is a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Travel Research (ABS 4*) and Tourism Economics (ABS 2*) and has edited and co-edited special issues of journals in her field. In 2015, she was re-elected as a council member of the International Association for Tourism Economics. She is an invited member of the German Aviation Research Society. Prior to joining academia, Neelu worked for UNESCO (Mauritius), UNICEF (Mauritius), the Mauritius Research Council on projects related to livelihood and education. Her work has provided research based evidence for governments and other organisations.
