Personal profile


Nick joined the University in 1987. Having completed an undergraduate degree in Geography at the University of Liverpool and a post graduate diploma in Tourism at the University of Surrey, he secured an MPhil scholarship from the English Tourist Board to undertake research into the occupancy performance of hotels in Yorkshire and Humberside. Additional funding was secured to extend the study and its methodology to PhD level through analysing regional patterns of the occupancy performance of hotels in England.

Over the years, Nick’s research and teaching interests have extended into the field of transport and logistics. He has worked tirelessly in promoting the work of the University in this field and is passionate about developing the knowledge and skills of his graduates so that they are ready for employment.

Nick has taught in several countries, including Denmark, Egypt, Hong Kong, Hungary, Norway and Malaysia. He is a long standing member of the European Forum of Logistics Education and a committee member of the Logistics Research network.
