Phil Drake is a Senior Lecturer of Law and Director of the Law Clinic at the University of Huddersfield. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a non-practising Solicitor.

Prior to joining the Law School in 2008, Phil worked in a number of legal practices ranging from a small High Street practice to larger city commercial practices and the in-house solicitor’s department of a large Local Authority. Whilst in practice, he gained experience of contentious and non-contentious work and his main practice areas were in civil and commercial litigation and corporate recovery and insolvency.

Since entering academia, Phil has taken a key interest in the psychological learning processes in clinical legal education and the underlying ethical, sociological and philosophical dimensions of law.

Research Expertise and Interests

  • Teaching and learning processes within clinical legal education;
  • Professional legal ethics and social responsibility;
  • Accessory liability in equity for assistance in a breach of trust

Fingerprint Fingerprint is based on mining the text of the person's scientific documents to create an index of weighted terms, which defines the key subjects of each individual researcher.
