Personal profile
Biography
I am a Registered Nurse with 19 years experience in acute medicine and critical care and for the last 4 years have been working in higher education at the University of Huddersfield.
Having achieved my degree in Sociology, I went on to complete my Nurse training. I developed highly specialised skills in intensive care nursing whilst being actively involved in informal teaching within the clinical area. In 2019 I was successful in a secondment opportunity at the University of Huddersfield as a Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) for the Trainee Nursing Associate (TNA) programme, becoming a team leader and more recently taking a permanent role as a Lecturer and Course Leader. This role involves supporting learners in their progression on the programme to meet NMC and apprenticeship requirements, teaching clinical skills and lectures, liaising with stakeholders, recruitment and supporting colleagues within the team. I have just been involved in a full Ofsted inspection of the apprenticeship provision, for which the University has been graded as Outstanding: 50233649 (ofsted.gov.uk)
Since joining the university I have completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Health Education, becoming a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and have just completed my Masters in Health Education. I am co-author on an article being submitted for publication and part of a research project on Compassionate Circles, which has just been granted ethical approval.
