Personal profile

Dr Cattley is a research fellow in the Centre for Efficiency and Performance Engineering. Upon leaving the Post Office Telephones in 1978 he ran a company specialising in process plant engineering, and he was awarded an MSc by Cranfield University in Process Plant Engineering in 2003. Following this he was employed by Gilkes Ltd as the company’s Hydropower Development Engineer. He left Gilkes to do a PhD at Lancaster University, awarded in 2009, and he was then a self-employed engineering consultant until June 2012 when he was employed by Huddersfield University as a Research Fellow. Since his arrival at Huddersfield Dr Cattley has been working full-time on research contracts and he has also been conducting significant independent research as leader of research projects in RADAR condition monitoring, fuel and lubricant additive assessment, and wind turbine gearbox design.
