Personal profile

Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer in Initial Teacher Education (Lifelong Learning) having joined the University in 2017. Previously I was Head of Division for Education, Training and Learning Development at York College, a key partner in the university’s teacher education programmes.

Before moving into teacher education, I enjoyed 20 years as a teacher of A level Geography and Geology and as an Outdoor Education tutor and coach.

My first degree was in Earth Sciences (Oxford Brookes) and I went on to complete a Science PGCE (11-18) at Keele University. In 2006 I gained an MA in Geography in Education (UCL Institute of Education), with a specific focus on the development of teaching spaces.

I am currently researching for a Doctorate in Education exploring the development and use of digital technology by trainee Further Education teachers.
