Biography

Saeed Talebi holds a PhD in ‘Architecture and the Built Environment’ from the University of Huddersfield. He was awarded the prestigious PhD Scholarship of £52,000 from the School of Art, Design, and Architecture, University of Huddersfield for his PhD. Dr Saeed Talebi is Lecturer and Acting Departmental Lead for recruitment at the Department of Architecture and 3D Design. His role combines research, administration and teaching activities. He has taught on the areas of Building Information Modelling in architectural design and construction, Project Planning and Control, Lean Construction, has developed a number of research projects and has supervised students.

His current research interest is in the areas of condition monitoring of infrastructure, off-site construction, dimensional tolerance management, and platform design using technologies such as 3D scanning, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), thermal imaging camera, Building Information Model (BIM), and Artificial Intelligence. Bringing practical experience of working on a number of projects in the UK and the Middle East, he is researching and helping teams manage the interfaces between theory and practice.

Dr Talebi is currently a co-investigator of a £120K project funded by Innovate UK and Network Rail. This project utilises emerging surveying methods and Artificial Intelligence to replace visual inspection of rail bridges.

Dr Talebi co-founded the Transforming Construction Taskforce in Platform Design and Mass Customisation in July 2019 at the University of Huddersfield along with leading research teams and more than 45 public, private sector organisations. The Taskforce is a collaborative platform of researchers and the industry, and acts as an inspiration for the further development of innovative activities in construction, in particular for the platform design and mass customisation. Moreover, he is a board member of the Community of Practitioners-Lean Construction Institute, North West Chapter, and is an active member of International Group for Lean Construction.
