Biography

Soufiene Djahel is a Senior Lecturer in Cyber Security at the University of Huddersfield (UK) and a Visiting Associate Professor at the School of Computer Science at University College Dublin (Ireland). He was the founder and head of the Smart and Sustainable Cities (S2C) lab within the department of computing and mathematics at Manchester Met Univ. from 2017 until August 2022. Dr. Djahel holds Ph.D, M.Sc., and Engineer degrees in computer science from Lille 1 University of Science and Technology, France, University Abderrahmane-Mira, Algeria, and University Badji-Mokhtar, Algeria, respectively. He published more than 70 peer-reviewed research articles in international journals and conferences on wireless networks, network security, intelligent transportation systems, e-healthcare and IoT. He supervised to successful completion 5 Ph.D. students and 23 Master students, and currently supervising 4 Ph.D. students. His research was supported by Newton Mosharrafa Fund, JSPS, IntelliCentrics UK LTD, and the Transport Systems Catapult. He served as Engineering Research Manager at University College Dublin, Ireland; Postdoctoral Fellow at ENSIEE, France; Associate Lecturer and Researcher at Lille 1 University of Science and Technology, France; and Teaching Assistant at IMT Nord Europe, France. He is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK and the Vice-Chair of the IEEE TCGCC SIG on Green Internet of Vehicles. Dr. Djahel is regularly invited to undertake different leadership roles in several IEEE sponsored international conferences; and serves as expert reviewer for three European research councils. He is the recipient of the FY2021 JSPS Invitational Fellowship for Research in Japan award from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.
